Barb Kirkmeyer is a strong, effective, conservative leader with a proven track record who will fight for us.
A fourth generation Coloradoan, Barb will be a clear voice in defense of agriculture, in support of energy independence, and on balancing the budget, just as she’s done as a Weld County Commissioner.
Over 13 years as a County Commissioner, Barb has a proven track record as a fiscal conservative. In her time on the Commission, Weld is the only county in the state with no debt, no county sales tax, and actually has given a refund back to taxpayers year after year.
That’s the kind of fiscal responsibility we need in Washington.
“In Weld County, we walk the walk, instead of just talking the talk. We balance the budget. We have no debt. We take our responsibilities to the taxpayers very seriously. I will take the Weld County model to Washington. I am appalled at our $17 trillion national debt. That debt endangers our childrens dreams, the opportunities of our grandchildren, and threatens the prosperity of our great state.” – Barb Kirkmeyer
Barb has deep ties to the agriculture economy here in Colorado. She was raised on a dairy farm and raised her children on a dairy farm in Weld County. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Barb co-owned and operated a small business with her sister for 15 years, so she understands the challenges that job creators face when dealing with government regulations and taxes.
In Colorado, the right to keep and bear arms is more than just a slogan; it is a part of our culture. Barb helped draft and pass a resolution in support of Weld County Sheriff John Cook’s efforts to oppose the egregious anti-gun legislation imposed by the Colorado Legislature. Barb strongly supports the 2nd Amendment, without compromise.
A strong conservative, Barb has been a consistent voice for the sanctity of life, voting to ban the “abortion pill” Plan B, and standing up for our most vulnerable Coloradoans as a supporter of the Personhood Movement.
Barb has two daughters, Katee and Caroline, and two grandsons, Preston and Paxton. She is a longtime season ticket holder for the University of Colorado football team, and in her free time she plays with her grandchildren and gardens.
